Put URLs in Finder Get Info window

My main activity is research and archiving of documents (.pdf .ppt .docx .xlsx) on technical, economic, social, political themes. I have thousands of them downloaded from anywhere. That's my request...

I'd like to have the URL (a document was downloaded from) automatically saved with the file itself. For example in the comment field of the file's Get Info Finder window.

Strangely enough nobody seems to pay attention to this simple need. The sole app behaving this way was (20 years ago) Internet Explorer on Mac OS 9! Safari does it, but randomly.

This feature allows several (manual) actions:
- to check - weeks or months later - if a document has been updated
- save a copy of the document in the Wayback Machine, or other online archival services
- speed-up citations of documents in my own resumes or reports
- giveaway of the original url (not the document itself) to friends or collaborators

I believe it should be technically possible, when a download starts, to save the URL along with the file.
Other people interested in this feature?
Regards
Guido from Italy
